Making Plans For A Confident Smile – Now Or Never?
With A New Perspective On Life, Is Now The Perfect Time For A Perfect Smile?
Covid-19 has had a devastating effect on the economy, many consequences of which won’t become apparent for some time. It has also taken many lives, and negatively affected the lives of people across the world.
Whilst there’s no belittling the sheer impact of such a challenging time, we know that seeing the positives and silver linings in even the smallest things, can be an uplift we all need.
It’s become clear that one silver lining throughout all of this, is that many people have embraced life to the full. Once you go through something that essentially threatens all life as we know it, and that for a time, changes the freedoms we took for granted before, how we see the future changes.
Many people are now making plans for the near future, to do the things they always put off doing. We all fear this outbreak getting worse again or even another virus doing worse damage than this one. So, many people are feeling a little more ‘make hay whilst the sun shines’ to give them a boost during these difficult times.
At our NW8 clinic, we have noticed there have been more patients who are interested in smile makeovers, patients who have previously put the work off. Now that the pandemic has happened, those who have struggled with a lack of confidence because of their smile are prioritising what makes them happy. Why not now? What’s stopping you getting the beautiful smile you always wanted?
Of course, clinics are still recovering from being closed and there is a delay on treatments, but many customers want us to know they’re the first in line for that all important smile makeover consultation. Because, if not now, when?
If that sounds like you, Abbey Road Dental can give you more information about what might be involved in a smile makeover that is just right for you. Everybody is different of course but, it can help to know that there is a solution for everybody. Here are some different aspects of a smile makeover and the kinds of treatments you can expect:
The Consultation, The Important First Step
It is important to note that the consultation is the most important part of the entire process. The consultation is where we find out what it is you are expecting from your treatment, and what you currently feel about your smile. Your NW8 dentist can also hear all of your questions and answer them properly.
At the end of the consultation we can then offer you a selection of treatment plans that we feel would suit your needs. You also get full clarity on the cost of the plan and how the costs are broken down. We consider the consultation to be the most important part of the smile makeover process because it’s the moment for patients that makes it all feel real, and it’s our chance to help you feel at ease, and ensure you feel completely in control of your own dental health future.
Diagnostics
With any treatment we offer we ensure that it is suitable for the patient. That is why we would always perform a full examination during the first consultation. If there are any health issues at all with the mouth such as gum disease or decay, our first priority would be getting those issues resolved. Our patients need a strong foundation for any cosmetic work and we will always ensure health is the priority above aesthetics.
With certain treatments, like dental implants, we may need to do a CT scan. We may also take X-rays and take moulds of the teeth. It depends on the treatment that you are going to have done, but performing these diagnostics gives us as clear an image as possible, of your current dental health. This then in turn, helps us make the most accurate diagnosis, and provide the treatment most appropriate for you.
Treatment Types
There is no one treatment type we offer for a smile makeover. Often, we use a combination of treatments to create a lasting, finished result. Here are some of the different treatments that might be involved in a smile makeover:
Veneers
Veneers are very thin sheets of porcelain or ceramic applied to prepared teeth. They are the most common treatment used for a smile makeover as they can provide amazing results with very little time needed to do so. Veneers can transform the shape, size and shade of a tooth and can be used on a single tooth, or on the entire social front of the mouth.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are the most innovative solution for replacing missing teeth currently available within dentistry. An implant is made from titanium and actively replaces the tooth root. It is attached to an abutement which holds a replacement crown or it may hold a supported bridge or denture. An implant can replace one missing tooth, or an entire arch, depending on your needs.
Of all missing teeth replacement options, dental implants are the most ‘cutting edge’ solution and the closest thing to natural teeth currently available.
Crowns & Bridges
Crowns and bridges may be used to reshape teeth, and to replace the visible part of teeth that are missing. Crowns and bridges are extremely realistic looking these days and most people would not be able to tell you have crowns or bridges in place when they are applied professionally.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening can be used as a standalone treatment although it is often used as a finishing treatment with a smile makeover. It can make the teeth several shades lighter, bringing a youthful look to the smile, often rejuvenating the overall face too. When used in conjunction with veneers, it is often used to brighten teeth that are not veneered to ensure the whole smile is a uniform colour.
Teeth Straightening
Teeth straightening has come a long way in the last decade. Now, adults and teenagers can have discreet, invisible braces that straighten the teeth without the need for traditional ‘train track’ braces. Of course, some patients do need more extensive braces, but many can have just the social six teeth at the front straightened easily with a modern discreet system.
White Fillings
White fillings are used to fill in gaps where decayed material has been removed from the teeth. They look more uniform and aesthetically pleasing than metal fillings and help complete an overall transformation.
Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic bonding can be used to temporarily correct all kinds of dental issues such as chips, or gaps. It won’t last as long as veneers but is a good option if you don’t mind a less permanent treatment.
